Archway Cicero PSO is proud to announce….”Bullying – A Change in Perspective”

Join the PSO on Monday, March 6th in the Archway Multi-purpose room to hear Shane Watson, a Prevention Specialist for notMykid who will speak for an hour about how bullying affects our kids today, and what we can do as parents to prevent, identity and help them navigate bullying.  Whether your child has experienced bullying or not, you will NOT want to miss this event!

Come at 8:15 to hear about our exciting upcoming PSO school-wide events for the remainder of the year!  The presentation will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.  PLEASE NOTE:  Due to the nature of the subject matter, NO children will be allowed during the talk!

Shane has been with the organization for over four years.   During this time, he has given 285 presentations at 175 venues, including schools, community groups, corporations, and conferences in Arizona, California, and Massachusetts.  Shane also performs media duties for notMYkid, with over 75 local and national media appearances and interviews.

He presents on six topics: bullying, substance abuse, Internet safety, vaping and e-cigarettes, prescription drug abuse, and depression/suicide/self-injury.  He joined notMYkid in January of 2013 as a student substance abuse Peer Educator with the goal of sharing his personal story of addiction and recovery in order to prevent students from going down a similar path.  Now more than five years clean and sober, he remains driven by the desire to equip students, parents, school faculty, and other community members with the knowledge and courage necessary to prevent negative youth behaviors.  Shane is also a registered ASIST trainer, teaching local two-day workshops on suicide intervention.

He is a graduate of Grand Canyon University (1999) with a B.A. in Journalism.
